Serenity Villa is a brand new luxury 16 bed Villa in Cala d’Or Majorca owned by Property developer Nick Porter and his wife Debbie and Business Partner Julie Besbrode along with husband Damian.

I worked in close collaboration with Mandy Wong (www.mandywongdesign.co.uk) who designed the site to produce a fully responsive website for the owners to showcase this magnificent villa.

Mandy was given some guidance as to the type of website that was wanted, but had quite alot of creative licence to put her stamp onto the look and feel.

The website has been built on the WordPress platform as a base for the CMS (content management system) which allows the owners to update the site quickly and efficiently without the need for developer assistance.

Serenityvilla.net has 3 key break points to manipulate and adapt for large screen, tablets and mobiles. Due to the large landscape imagery we use a number of different versions of the hero images at the different break points to ensure the design is not compromised and the images still stand-out and take pride of place as the key feature of the site.

Alongside the hi-res and large imagery, I have implemented a sticky menu which changes on scroll to a thin menu to again maximise the viewport, the menu is also fully responsive and becomes a collapsible “burger” menu on mobile devices.

The individual room pages have a bespoke slider full width slider the prev and next image previews darkened and then brought into view on click.

A full paginated thumbnail image gallery has been included to allow the user to scroll through the high number of images available of the villa, the thumbnails can be clicked and expanded into a lightbox full viewport viewing.

WordPress Advance Custom Fields have been implemented in the admin to help the clients administer the content of the site and breakdown the content into easily editable sections.

The site simple yet beautifully designed minimalistic layout in my opinion really helps the big hi-res imagery do the talking and ensuring this website could achieve this and adapt for smaller devices without comprising the impact of the imagery really made this site one to the proud of, the codebase is small yet well structured, clean and contains all the HTML5 and CSS3 coupled with a little bit of Jquery enhancement you expect from a well built modern responsive website.  I hope you like it as much as the owners, myself and Mandy do!
