Adam Catlow

My name is Adam Catlow and I am a Front-end and Wordpress Developer based in Manchester, UK. I am also an aspiring PHP developer and work alot with the Wordpress and Drupal CMS platforms to build Responsive and content manageable website for clients.

Away from the "techy" stuff, I grew up in Stockport just outside Manchester playing every sport possible, finally I settled to spend every weekend I had playing either Lacrosse or Cricket - I could bore you for hours with all the stuff I've tried and experienced so I will limit it to this, but I wouldn't be lying if I said I Scuba Dived and have tried High Board Diving!

I went to University to study for my BSc Multimedia and although I still play Lacrosse and Cricket, my professional career path took my into the great world of the wider web! I landed my first development job straight out of University after taking a few months out to travel around the states and coach kids at Camp America.I currently work agency side for one of the top full service marketing agencies in Manchester, The fresh Group, creating websites, emails and other digital material for a whole range of clients - some of which can be seen on my work page.

Core Skills

I have a number of core skills/services to help you, your business or your agency.

My skills lie in creating websites, webapps and online stores... however there are a number of other digital services I offer, the core of which are detailed below.

Website and WebApp Development

This is what I do!

I create and build bespoke and responsive websites and webapps from pixel perfect designs, that are cross browser and device compatible.

All websites are built into a CMS system (like Wordpress) to give the client the ability to update and manage their own site.

Email Development

HTML emails creation can be a massively hard thing to get right.

I have over 3 years experience in building and testng emails for delievery to large databases where consistant delivery is vital.

Website Maintenance

Exactly what is says on the tin.

It is important to keep the code and systems running your site up to date, clean and safe and most of all optimised.

Hosting and Domains

The correct hosting environment is very important for any website owner. This is a big part of a web developers core skillset.

From basic hosting and mail set up to advanced server set-up and security. I can help you out.

Analytics ans SEO

Google and other Search Engine Ranking is very important to gain success on the web.

I code inline with latest practices for good SEO and uses Google Analytics to monitor and analyse traffic and potential ROI.

How we make it happen...

Whether it be freelance or for an agency it is important for clients to have a clear and simple approach to the creation of their digital asset (which can become very technical, very quickly). The process below is one that I have used myself for a couple of years and find works well with a range of clients and covers all bases.

Step One: Starbucks?

Grab a Coffee

Or anywhere thats good for an initial meeting (I like Starbucks...), a cuppa and a chat to discuss what your requirements are and if I can help you in anyway.

Step Two: The Spec

After our initial catch up if we have decided to procede with the project, then we will go over the functional specification of the project in detail and produce a project plan and wireframes

Step Three: Design

Website Design

Once the technical spec wireframes have been agreed design (or designs depending on project) will be created for review and sign off.

Step Four: Development

Website Development

Working from the designs that have been created from the wireframes the website/app or email will be developed according to the technical spec agreed at the start of the project.

Step Five: Testing

In my eyes one of the most important steps in the whole process is testing. I believe that any website/app that is not fully compatiable cross browser and device (Responsive) isn't a very good one, so I pride myself in ensuring that my products are tested to ensure they work across multiple devices and browsers and degrade gracefully for older less supported browsers.

Step Six: Client Review and Sign Off

Review and Sign Off

Once I am happy with the website/app/email then I will send over a test link / test version for you to go through and ensure it meets and hopefully surpasses all of your requirements. Once you are fully happy and ready to push live, I can either deploy the *site or incase of email or other digital collateral provide you with the source code to impliment.

*For websites, ongoing maintance and support is offered at an hourly rate.
